Ați mai auzit voi prin târg vorbindu-se că Salman Rushdie, the one and only, pregătește, după o pauză de aproape opt ani (bine, minus Joseph Anton, memorii, care nu se pune la socoteală pentru că e non-ficțiune), o nouă carte. Romanul se numește Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights și va fi publicat la Random House pe 8 septembrie 2015.
Prin decembrie 2014, scriitorul, criticul literar, eseistul, traducătorul și editorul Bogdan-Alexandru Stănescu afirma, pe contul său personal de Facebook, că tocmai primise noul volum al lui Rushdie, așa că mă aștept ca cititorii români să aibă o traducere a acestui roman imediat după lansarea lui în original 🙂 – sunt optimistă, știu.
În noua sa carte, Salman Rushdie îmbină istoria și mitologia într-o poveste de dragoste atemporală. Cei de la Penguin Random House ne promit un roman fidel sută la sută stilului lui Rushdie, o narațiune bogată, pe mai multe planuri și cu mai multe posibilități de interpretare, în funcție de sensibilitatea fiecărui cititor.

It’s a strong cover, I think: it finds a way of presenting a long title that makes it look light and easy, and as for the cloud and the thunderbolt, the novel is full of sorcery born of smoke and lightning. As for the human figure… can it be that his feet aren’t touching the ground?
