Long to write short stories? Stuck with your novel? Puzzled about publishing? Come to our idyllic mountain village for a few days to develop your craft. In your time off, relax with yoga, a scenic tour, even a spot of bear watching!

Between May 2-9, 2015, Nicoaro Books will host a five-day writing holiday in one of Romania’s most picturesque villages, twenty-five miles south of Braşov. Măgura nestles among rolling valleys flanked by the spectacular Bucegi mountains and the steep ridges of Piatra Craiului. Paradise found, in a national park! Places will be limited to twelve participants. We hope you will be among them.

At our inaugural WIT in spring 2015, four creative individuals (Angela Nicoara, Mike Ormsby, Arabella McIntyre-Brown and Philip O’Ceallaigh) will share with you their wide experience in writing, editing, and publishing – not to mention their friendly advice on your own work!

Schedule

Our daily schedule is designed to stimulate your head, heart, and soul.

We’ll start at 10 a.m. with a three-hour session led by a WIT speaker. Topics will include short stories, aspects of the novel, non-fiction, writing for children, editing, and self-publishing.

Lunch will vary in menu and location, after which you’ll have a range of leisure options for the afternoon: roam the pleasant paths of Măgura and snap some spectacular views, enjoy a yoga class, or take a nature tour with a small group and expert guide. A special highlight for the Carpathian mountains is watching European brown bears from a cabin in the forest. With luck you can also see other wildlife like wild boar, birds of prey, owls or even wolves.

We’ll regroup for dinner – three courses of the best Romanian cuisine prepared by local chefs using local organic dairy, meat, seasonal fruit and vegetables. To complement your meal, choose from a range of fine Romanian wines, beers, soft drinks or spring water. Tea and coffee will be available throughout your stay.
